Bingo... Tasty Hot Cherry Apple Pie!
By jenniferg78
As children who did not love the irresistible taste of Kellogg’s Pop Tarts? Heck, even today, now that I am grown up I sometimes flip a box or two into the shopping trolley if I see it on sale. But the truth of the matter is making your very own Pop Tarts is really easy. In fact, you can better suit it to your needs and of course, wouldn’t you prefer home baked to store bought—I know I do.
Bingo, it’s that easy!
I’d like to share one of my favourite recipes with you. As mentioned in the title this one is a tasty hot cherry apple pie. I have to say that is was partially inspired by a hysterical hub on a pie machine. It’s fun to make and if you desire other fruits (or even organic chocolate—yes, organic chocolate!) then be my guest and give it a whirl and comment below to let me know what you came up with.
Here’s what you need to do
Before you get started, preheat the oven to 200°C/400°F. Now you will need to slice and dice around 4-6 apples. Granny Smith apples are perfect for this, because of their natural tart flavour. As for the cherries, you can use two cans of pitted sweet dark red cherries. You need to drain them well. Once drained you need begin to fry the apples and cherries in a pan on medium heat for around 5-7 minutes.
Fry it in oil and be sure to add some golden caster sugar. This helps the inside come together; it also adds sweetness, so please use more or less depending on your taste bud preferences. Then lay some ready-to-roll puff pastry over the cherries and apples and place the pan in the oven for around 25 minutes.
Viola! Congratulations, you’ve just made your own Pop Tarts. And see, it really is easy. Before heading to the kitchen you can view a similar variation of this recipe on the Tasty Bingo website. This site also has other great cooking videos that are very useful and I think you will like.
